No Impact Week January 2nd!

After watching the very interesting documentary, 'No Impact Man', I decided to join the thousands of other Earth citizens in the project called 'No Impact Week' with Colin Beavin and Yes! magazine. My goal is to learn how do more in saving our planet by doing less, consuming less, eating less, wasting less. This experimental week I believe will motivate me to push myself further down the road to a sustainable life. Our consumer culture and throw-a-way society is not sustainable and those that refuse to accept this fact are in a dangerous denial. So, won't you join me on this unusual adventure? You can sign up formally at No Impact Man

The week goes from Sunday-Sunday with each day a new challenge. The challenges are cumulative so by the last day you are practicing to some degree all 8 tennets.

Sunday-Consumption, do not buy anything that is new except food. Second hand or borrowed is OK.

Monday- Don't make any new trash.

Tuesday-Transportation

Wednesday-Food

Thursday-Energy

Friday-Water

Saturday-Giving Back

Sunday-Eco Sabbath

It's not as scary as it might seem at first. When you sign up, you are asked to fill out a quick survey and receive a 17 page book in your email. They ask that you don't print it out. Between the booklet, Twitter, Facebook and the Blog, you can get tips, tricks, cool ideas to live out your week. Discussions are encouraged. So try it, have fun and re-learn the better way to live.

Naturally Crazy,

Tina

  1. I watched that on Netflix over the summer and I agree, it is a great film! We learned a lot from it and continue to lessen our impact as we learn more. Thanks for sharing this... I hope more people jump on board with it! :-)

  2. I just finished watching 'Tapped'. I feel sad when I learn what our 'great' country has turned into.
